I can say is wow! To all the people that showed
up, you helped make Weird Florida: UNLEASHED
a success! This was the first time for me ever
trying something like this, and it went well
because of you! I won't forget that.

along with the Volusia Investigators of the Paranormal hosted
a Weird Florida Book Release party, with guest of honor Charlie
Carlson, at the Blue Dahlia in historic downtown Sanford.
It was an evening full of Florida Weirdness to say the least!
Not only was Mr. Carlson there
feverishly signing anything and everything people were putting
in front of him, including a man's arm, but the Great Magician
Harry Wise entertained patrons with a few old classics from
his bag of tricks. You can buy his biography by clicking
here. Also in attendance was a real life Medium! The Amazing
Susan Thompson entertained skeptical questions from yours
truly as well as from others. I'm not sure, but I think she
might be the real thing!
As everyone
was finishing up their meals, and enjoying each others
company, and pointing out Greg, who was wearing his
face pain, a real life Skunk Ape was delivered to the
event!!!! That's right! I didn't mistype! A skunk ape
was lead into the event by two young men. Obviously
this creature was very dangerous, I mean two guys were
required to walk it around and keep it in check. Who
know what would have happened if I was wearing my orange
suit at the time. Mr. Carlson got his picture with the
beast, but since it wasn't quite as big as he wanted
he couldn't give them the $10,000. However, he was going
to give them a Weird Florida book, but apparently the
beast got a little agitated and for our own protection
they led him away.

The night went on and concluded
shortly before 10pm with a slew of prizes that were given
away. One gentleman who was present won 3 different items,
while his wife won two. It pays to buy the tickets! Some of
the prizes given away included a Weird Florida book, some
SpookHunters T-shirts, beautifully framed pictures of orbs,
and a mouse in a jar. The grand prize was the actual map which
was used by Charlie Carlson in his 2500 mile quest for Weird
Florida. It is worn from use, has routes outlined, has various
weird places circled and other scribbles of mileage etc on
it. A true collectable!
The success of Weird Florida:
Unleashed has made us consider doing it again. We're looking
to do something in late September. If you have any ideas,
